ABOUT ME: I like ice cream and stretching the truth. I prefer to do all things "as the locals" and try to avoid tourists. I do not like that there is a Hilton in Zanzibar to which people will travel and then come home to Paris or Chicago and say, "I went to Zanzibar", but they really did not go to Zanzibar at all... they just went to the Hilton. On occasion, I like to lay poolside at the Hilton in places like Zanzibar.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCH-SURFING

At the moment I am just a surfer because I am constantly changing homes. I'd be happy to meet up with you just to show you around my city.

COUCH-SURFING EXPERIENCE: I've surfed in part of Germany and pretty much all Russia. For the past several months I'm channel-surfing from my couch.

Interests

I am only interested in the following things: people, animals, art, music, science, sports, the city, the country, mixed popcorn, tipsiness, economics, trees, Eastern European history, Northeast and Western Mediterranean history, Central Asian history, insects, classical guitar, Iranian folk-music, the "Stans", ancient inland bodies of water, huge dark-flowing hair, dry/cracked driftwood with a lot of character, weak cheeses, low-seating, massive Cokes, spreadsheets and itineraries, space operas, anything indigenous, not voting, budgets and investing.

I also love languages and have almost mastered one - English.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Once after a brief cash windfall I rented an airplane hangar and filled it with 250 men named "Dennis" and one guy named "Brian". As I observed from a 2-way mirror above, they soon began to interact... "Hi, I'm Dennis." "Hi, my name's Dennis." Amidst their silly repetitive introductions I watched Brian VERY closely. Would he be overwhelmed in a world of Dennises? Or, would he rise up and lead them? I wrote a short thesis on my findings that was published by "I hope you aren't actually believing this".
