About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Make and eat a snow cone.
ABOUT ME
I'm quite relaxed and easy going. On somewhat the other hand am generally very active and enjoy keeping busy. Have lived in 5 different countries so far, most recently Japan where I'll be for 6 months. I was in Portsmouth UK for the last 3 years doing a degree in cosmology, and before that was in Munich teaching English. Loved so much about both those countries and hope Japan will be the same :)
PHILOSOPHY
Do what you love doing only if it doesn't take beauty from the world!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I used to attend the weekly meetings in Portsmouth - met so many wonderful, open minded people, some of who are still very good friends.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Interests
I'm doing physics full time now but in the time I spend away from physics I enjoy jogging, reading, writing, squash, football, baking pie and eating pie. Like most humans, I need my fix of socialising and conversation daily. Nothing really beats a good conversation over a pint. Favourite topic of conversation would have to be anything I can speak passionately about, so whatever I have somewhat of an opinion on. For example types of clouds, fish fingers, pine cones, tv antennas etc, but sometimes those are too heavy so I do enjoy lighter subjects too such as the environment, the cosmic web, the importance of being a conscious consumer, politics, life, death, religion.

Music, Movies, and Books
As far as music goes, I'm into a lot. My favorite bands would be Tool, Pendulum, Porcupine Tree, Dire Straits, APC, London Grammar, Lucy Rose, Ben Howard, The Lumineers, Foo Fighters, Stone Sour ....
Movies, top 3 would be Lost in Translation, Mother, Get Him to the Greek. Don't have much patience for films so rarely finish any in one sitting, if at all.
Books I've read in the past year : Dune .... have been busy! Recently started (3 pages plus the dedication ;) Outlander.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Swam in a stream on a snowy mountain side.
Teach, Learn, Share
I was an English teacher for 2 years and now do research in physics so can impart pretty well validated knowledge on either of those topics happily. I give the caveat that as far as physics goes, as Phaedrus in Pirsig's ZatAoMM pointed out, what we think we know is highly unlikely to be true. At least I'm sure the English I teach is true.
Need to learn some Japanese right now :)
