About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To explore, eat and drink, to have fun and meet interesting people. To experience new cultures and do what the locals do. My mission is to enjoy travelling!

ABOUT ME

I'm 27 years old; i've always wanted to travel extensively but up until 2009, had never made it happen. I'm very easy going and love music, culture, food and meeting new and interesting people. I love sharing good times over coffee, beer, wine and/or food. I'm open minded and am up for just about anything!

PHILOSOPHY

"Memento Mori": literally translated it means 'remember death' in Latin, though the figurative translation is less morbid and revolves around the fact that everyone dies at some stage (owing to mortality) and should therefore live their lives to the fullest. It's refreshing to keep this in perspective occasionally.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Couchsurfing appeals to me because it brings people together and enables unique insights into cultures and lifestyles somewhat different than one's own. I participate by couchsurfing at the moment, but would love to host in the future when i return from travelling.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I haven't couchsurfed with anyone just yet, but am looking to as i explore more of Europe. Funnily enough, i was travelling in Japan before coming to Europe and slept the night on my cousin's couch after catching up with him for the day. I thought this was a rather unique introduction to couch surfing!

Music, Movies, and Books

Anything Haruki Murakami, Toni Morrison, Albert Camus, Edgar Allen Poe, Dostoevsky, Kafka, etc...
Anything David Lynch, Guillermo del Toro, Cohen Brothers - you get the picture
Varied; alternative, jazz, etc; it has to suit the mood i'm in or the mood i want to be in!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Battled depression - it doesn't sound that amazing but it can completely change your perspective. Learning to deal with this, and in doing so, learning more about myself, has been an amazing experience; the human mind (and body) is extraordinary!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach English, history, geography (it's my profession so i hope i can teach it anyway!). I can also teach percussion instruments - especially the drums.
I love to learn about culture and language - i will always try to learn at least some native language! Anything anyone has to offer is good; "the more i know, the more i know there is more to learn..."
Love to share my cooking with others and plenty of good times!!
