My name is Bendiks and i’m a student from Groningen, the Netherlands. I’m currently planning a trip to the USA starting in October. I hope to meet new people and experience the real southern culture! I've traveled a lot allready but i've never made a longer trip all by myself. As for my interests, i love to cook and i play some guitar. I like to visit museums and learn about the history that made places into what they are today.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to explore the southern united states and really would like to learn to know people living there. I hope to meet new and interesting people and have a good time. I also hope to see and learn things about town you would normally never get to know if you'd stay in a hotel. I hope the people i meet will show me around and learn me more about the local culture.

Music, Movies, and Books

I really enjoy listening to music, anything from Hip-Hop to Country and electronic to rock. Things i'm listing now include Rex Orange County, Crumb, Radiohead (a lot), Tyler, The Stones, Grateful Dead and the Beatles. My favorite movies include: to kill a mockingbird, capote, moonlight and das leben der anderen. I really enjoyed reading One Hundred Years of Solitude but also dutch literature is very enjoyable (de avonden van Gerard Réve)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Made an amazing camping trip with my girlfriend trough the whole of France and Catalunia this year and visted Londen, Hamburg and Arhus!

Teach, Learn, Share

I study Medicine and will start my internships in November. Before starting with medicine I finished my bachelor of history with a minor in American History, I still want to learn a lot about the history of the united states.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Stories about my home country and a lot of jokes (which will probably translate very poorly), give me a stove and some minor suggestions and i'll probably come up with a nice cooking idea.
