About Me

I have been traveling (almost) full time for the last two years. According to CS I've been to 45 countries. I travel with no itinerary and write a deranged travel blog called Travel Deviant, and am going to Columbua Journalism school in August. My hosts often become good friends and sometimes characters in stories I write, from partying with gangsters in Afganistan, to finding Tyler Durden in Mexico, to doing Mushrooms in Las Vegas (you can read about that here: http://bit.ly/1ROrnst )

Most of my stories can be found at www.benfeibleman.com

I promise to respect you and your home, and leave a detailed review, partly for future surfers, but mostly to show my appreciation for the generosity of opening your home to me.

I don't want or need hotel accommodations. I've couch surfed in war zones. If you can give me a floor, a blanket, and safety for 8 hours, that's all I'll ever ask for.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

After my first couchsurfing experience in Bosnia, I decided never to go back. A friend and I literally barricaded our door because we thought he might be crazy and we may have walked into a trap. He turned out to be the coolest person in Sarajevo, bar none. I want to meet more incredible people and hear their stories.

Interests

Nice shoes and the strange, non-tourist crap. If you can't take me to a museum because you have to do a gangland hostage negotiation, that's great! I'll come along.

I'm drug friendly and curious about the scene, but I don't bring them traveling.

Music, Movies, and Books

That song you've been listening to over and over on your iPod? Yeah, I like that.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent time living deep in the Amazon, working with monkeys. I was a guide and caretaker. One time we had to re-capture a troop of monkeys that were in large cages. This involved a lot of biting and wrestling, then we carried them on a several hours hike into the jungle and let them go after several months of teaching them to function as a free group. A very cool experience.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Stories. I'm a big storyteller. I also like to dress up and go dancing, so if you need someone to join you at the club, I'll definitely go.
