ABOUT ME

I love having adventures and being with people. I love anything to do with the outdoors and am an avid backpacker, rock climber, and mountain biker. There are few things better than a steamy cup of tea on a morning in the mountains! I always have a good time hanging out for long hours sipping beer or tea and talking with people, having those good conversations, and just being real with each other. I love to joke around, and I'm kinda known for saying really strange phrases (I try to minimize those when I'm traveling in other cultures ha ha). I'm born and raised in the USA, in the state of Colorado. I also attended college here. I have never tried couchsurfing before, but I have traveled to a number of countries in Latin America as well as India, Israel, Europe...I've always met such great people that this sounded like a great idea!

PHILOSOPHY

Well, I'm Catholic and the honest truth is that I really do try to live my life by that philosophy: that every person I meet regardless of appearance or personality or beliefs is an immortal soul, joined into one being with a mortal body, of infinite value and destined for infinite joy. I try to walk in the peace of providential abandonment, to practice joy in life's blessings and sufferings. I guess you might say my chief aim is to let good things run wild. Onward the adventure!

The outdoors!! Camping, backpacking, hiking, climbing, biking, running, etc. I love it all. I like history, museums, drinking tea, brewing beer, and hanging out (especially around campfires). I also really enjoy exploring cities...the urban landscape can be really interesting! I'm good at planning where necessary, but the hones truth is that I always have more fun with spontaneous things.

John Butler Trio, Jack Johnson, Xavier Rudd, Cake, OAR, Zack Brown Band, Darius Rucker, Jimmy Buffet. Seriously though I pretty much like anything. Braveheart is my favorite movie though. I love Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time book series, def a Chesterton fan also.

I spent over a month working with the destitute in the slums of Kolkata, India. That was just such an amazing remedy to my poverty of perspective.

I can rock climb, but I haven't done much winter mountaineering or ice climbing. I ride my mountain bike all the time, but I've only kayaked and rafted sporadically. I enjoy blacksmithing and have built my own full-fledged forge/shop here in Colorado. Metal work is a passion of mine. I really enjoy cooking even if I'm not particularly gifted at it, but I REALLY like eating...trying new foods is a huge favorite of mine. I love sharing a meal with people. I enjoy brewing beer (and drinking it!), but I know almost nothing about wine. I just like to learn things!
