About Me

I am a "flower child" of the sixties who enjoys meeting new people and learning about their cultures. I love body surfing in warm water and have board surfed in the Galapagos, Tobago, Bali, Hawaii and my home break, Malibu.
I like “tribal culture.” I like people who live from their hearts. I have produced over 50 documentary films, some in English and some in Spanish. One of the first, Sun Dried Foods, was shown world wide by the United Nations. Currently, my LA based film company is mostly working in Cuba. I am also Chairman of the largest Spanish-language educational radio service in the US, www.laredhispana.org, the equivalent of the Spanish version of NPR or the BBC for the entire US with our headquarters in Washington, DC.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet people who are open to sharing ideas, knowledge, hopes and dreams.

Interests

Meeting people who have deep souls. People who are tied to their own cultures. People who are spiritual. People who like to dance. People who want to help make the world happier, safer, more just, more sane- to heal the world, which in Hebrew is called, Tikkun Olam.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was nominated by the Peace and Freedom Party in 1968 campaigning to end the war in Vietnam, unionize farm workers and legalize marijuana. I then flew to Vietnam to speak in favor of ending the war and negotiating a settlement. I was threatened by the US Army and forced to leave. I moved to Northern New Mexico and bought land in the middle of the national forest and designed and built my own adobe home by hand. It is now becoming an educational center of permaculture.
Recently wearing only sandals, I summited the volcano Agung Agung on Bali at midnight to see the sunrise over the island of Lombok.
I just produced a documentary film of the March 25th Rolling Stones concert in Cuba.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have a Masters in Education, Guidance and Counseling and was an English Teacher. I am good at teaching languages- English and Spanish.
I can help others interested in producing films or using media to make the world better. I have offices in Washington, DC and know how many government agencies work, and how individuals can interact with elected representatives and government agencies.
