ABOUT ME

We´ve been on the road travelling for over 11 months, sailing and backpacking mostly. Have a look at our blog for some snapshots: www.searchingtheclouds.com

We have just finished a 6 week road trip - San Francisco - Vancouver - Denver - Vegas - San Francisco, taking in as many National Parks as we could manage.

It all started when we both found ourselves in a unique position last summer as I graduated from uni and Huw was offered redundancy (severence) from his work in a big corporate... and so we decided a year out and a grand adventure was the answer.

We sailed to the Caribbean from the UK - hitching on yachts and then we backpacked in Panama, Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Peru - taking in Patagonia and the Inca trail as we went.

Then we answered another sailing request and flew to Pamama to meet a yacht going north to Vancouver. We sailed as far as Cabo San Lucas in Baja California and then after some more back-packing and diving we found ourselves in ... sunny California. So after a bit of touring around, visiting friends and introducing ourelves to the world that is CS, we decided the best way to see the sites was a road trip...have car and tent (borrowed) makes funds go further and gives us freedom to wander :-)

PHILOSOPHY

Seas the day

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We would love to find some great hosts over the next 2-3 months here in the USA who could help to keep it real and understand the local scene wherever we go, also if we can keep our costs down we´ll get to see as much of this huge country as pos before we head home.

Our trip has been amazing so far, mostly because we never really know what we will be doing from one day to the next, we grab opportunities as they present themselves, and if someone recommends somewhere we´re always up for last minute changes. If we like somewhere we stick around if we don´t we get out of there real quick!

Our couch will definitely be up for surfing when we get back home, in just one short week in LA we realised the amazing community that exists amongst CSer´s. We want to stay a part of that and receive great people as well.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Newbies, but have had an amazing first few experiences in LA, Newport Beach, San Francisco and Portland. We´re gutted we didn´t try this in South America - thought our spanish wasn´t good enough, but in hindsight it would have been a great way to improve it.

We´re well up for some more local experiences before going home and hosting ;-)
