COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Interests
Learning languages, admiring beautiful art and landscapes, reading classic literature, nocturnal strolls, reading the paper and doing the Crossword in coffee bars, listening to vintage pop, doing Freddie Mercury impressions in karaoke bars, teaching English, playing and watching tennis (supporting my hero Roger Federer), following Manchester United FC (not quite as avidly as I used to), studying how films are made, watching uplifting romantic comedies, keeping fit (running, gym), dancing like a nutter with my friends at cheesy / naff discos (clad in flamboyant garb if it's a special occasion)

Music, Movies, and Books
I love classic English and American fiction, but am desperate to expand my knowledge of foreign literature, especially French, Russian, and Spanish fiction. I enjoy anything really that is snappily written with a propulsive plot and likeable characters. I will happily sit through most movies, but I find many of the recent loud, garish action / special-effect spectaculars tedious. Any music with a good infectious melody you can dance to floats my boat, and that encompasses pop, rock, ballet, opera, hip-hop, etc; I prefer it to have some emotional depth / punch and soul though. I deeply regret never seeing either Freddie Mercury or Michael Jackson live. I am acquiring a taste for some antique Italian pop, also.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The gift of life in itself is amazing.
Teach, Learn, Share
I studied Latin and Ancient Greek at Cambridge so have a solid grounding in the language, science, philosophy, art, architecture, culture, and influence of the ancients on modern society. I used to be a serious and decent runner and would love to get back into it properly (if I find a worthwhile objective)! I love playing tennis on a hot summer's day. I would be up for learning a useful instrument like piano or guitar (I used to play clarinet!) and to expand my knowledge of European literature and music.
