About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To meet as many characters as possible.
ABOUT ME
i'm what you would call a unique individual. i love to surf, travel, write, run, play, and all of the things that people usually enter into these boxes, but i also like to perceive, reflect, and try to gain a better understanding of how the world works. i'm a firm believer that the more one travels, the better use they will be to the community that person calls home. greater knowledge and understanding leads to better relationships between people. i guess that whole human nature thing gets in the way of progress sometimes, but there are always people, places and things that make life beautiful every day. oh, and i uh, love the beach. i'm a total beach bum...'cause you can live life on the beach.
PHILOSOPHY
i think i've about exhausted that one in the other little boxes. i guess i can just say that it's good to be able to function as an individual, but still be able to give something to the group.

Music, Movies, and Books
movies: any clint eastwood western, foreign films, pretty much anything different that provokes thought.
books: luigi pirandello, robert louis stevenson, jack london, tolkien. i'm a nerd and love to read history.
music: i love all kinds of music, but what i feel like listening to depends heavily upon mood. sometimes i want to listen to the blues, or classic rock, and sometimes i'm singing along to the sound of music or fiddler on the roof at the top of my lungs.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
i went to iraq in 2009. it was amazing. it was also a dirty shithole, and a constant reminder of what the worst of human nature can wreak, but there were some pretty inspiring feats of human kindness and perseverance to be witnessed from the soldiers and iraqis alike.
feel free to check out my iraq blog, which the santa barbara independent ran on its website:
http://www.independent.com/blogs/inside-iraq-santa-barbara-warzone/
since then, i've reported from northern peru, israel, colombia, and all over the american west and northern mexico. beauty abounds.
