Overview
About Me
I'm a friendly, generous and caring person who likes to always keep busy, whether it be learning a new skill, exercising or helping out others. I don't drink alcohol nor take drugs. I'm currently studying a bachelor of science, have many years working experience in management and retail, along with helping run 2 family businesses. I like to keep a clean, tidy environment and don't like to impact on others lives in a negative way at all. I only ever want to be helpful and bring happiness to the people around me.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I was meant to be travelling to Shanghai to stay with my girlfriend, whilst visiting her for our anniversary and my birthday... But sadly, things have not gone to plan and now I am left without a place to stay, without a huge amount of money to pay for a hotel, alone on a holiday that was meant to be an extremely happy and exciting experience.
I want to make the best of a bad situation and experience another culture and country in a completely different way than the normal, "stay in a hotel, alone" way.
I want to meet new people and have fun instead of being sad, lonely and lost in a foreign land where I don't speak to the language.
Interests
Self-educating, building things and solving problems, helping others, going to gym and keeping my mind and body active, music and meeting new people.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like a mix of genres of music, from jazz and blues, to minimal house/techno. I very much like Detroit techno and a lot of the stuff coming from European scene. Not so much into the Top 40 "EDM" stuff though.
I like most movies, although not so much horror.
Books vary from biographies and educational/historic into true-crime, thrillers.. Not so much into fantasy or science-fiction.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Started my own charity to help underprivileged children in remote communities in Australia by teaching them how to re-build bicycles that would normally be recycled, teaching them a skill, and giving them a mode of transport they wouldn't have otherwise had. It is very rewarding to see them learn and feel like they have value towards their communities.
Teach, Learn, Share
I have 20+ years experience with drums and percussion, I have a passion for building things and solving problems. I have an advanced diploma in civil & structural engineering and am completing a bachelor of science, majoring in environmental sustainability. Anything science or environment related, then I'm interested and would love to learn more and share what I know.
I'm also an avid DJ, with nearly 10 years experience.
