About Me

Hello!

My name is Ben, and I consider myself an outdoor adventurer, a lover of science, a teacher and mentor for youth, and a baker. I aim to be kind and compassionate as I incorporate others' perspectives into my world view. Currently, I find that spending time outdoors, connecting to my community in Vermont, pushing my body physically, and snuggling my goofy girlfriend are a few of my top priorities.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am on couchsurfing because I find that travelling is the best time to connect with someone you didn't expect to meet. Spending time with a friendly stranger always opens our mind and teaches us something that we could not have experienced solo.

I'm a social beast, but I'm not much about "hitting the town." I would rather go for a long walk with my hosts or relax and share a cup of tea. But I'm up for anything new.

Interests

I climb trees and rocks, tell stories to children, play music and sing, explore, and generally find joy by sharing the natural world with others. Lately farming and construction projects have been a big part of my life as well.

Music, Movies, and Books

I read a lot of nonfiction, and often it's environmental or nature-related. Lately I've enjoyed One-Straw Revolution by Masanobu Fukuoka and John Muir's diaries.

I'm picky about movies but I love high adventure stories, psychological thrillers, Star Wars, Star Trek...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I hiked the 273-mile Long Trail in Vermont with my best friend Owen, and the John Muir Trail in California with my father.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I bake sourdough bread, and have gotten quite good - if I have a couple days' notice to feed my yeast/bacteria pets I can make a loaf for my hosts.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, France
