About Me

Hi there, my name is Ben - I'm spending a part of my gap year travelling around France to improve my French before uni, I'm pretty new to this idea but I hope that it's going to crack up to what my friends have told me!

I'm travelling alone and am a laid back, independent person. I love to meet new people and would love sharing stories and talking with you. I'm respectful and considerate to my hosts, never overstaying my welcome or being demanding as I appreciate the gesture of you offering me a place to stay. It will be a real pleasure to meet you and I hope that I can one day return the favor.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I originally came to France as part of a Volunteering project with Workaway- But my flight home isn't until June so I'm spending some time travelling around France, getting to know its culture and its people. Couch surfing seemed like the best way to do this on a tight, student budget.

Interests

I'm a keen linguist, I love learning new languages and using them, even getting them wrong can be a laugh!

I'm really into music, I play piano and Uke and occasionally violin. If you play music we could play together, though you'd probably be a lot better than I am.

Apart from that I'm pretty normal, I read books, go to the cinema, talk with friends and travel. I'm open to everything!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I love Indie folk, Bastille (a UK band), Imagine Dragons, Hoizer. It's all brilliant! But I'm open to loads of type of music. I'd never say no to a bit of Elvis, or The Beatles or Dance music. Whatever really!

Most of the books I've read are English, like Terry Pratchett, Harry Potter, Douglas Adams etc. But I'd love to know what's worth a read over here in France.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Last summer I went inter-railing. We managed to visit 9 countries in 1 month and it was incredible! It was really brilliant being able to visit the capitals of every country, meet so many people and see so much. From Prague to Paris it's all beautiful and stunning. I'd love to go again.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd love to learn whatever you can teach me about France, culture, music, books, Politics, holidays, Language, (swearwords if you like). Whatever you want to teach me, I'm willing to learn!

In return I can offer you the same for English things, I can teach you some English, share some music with you. Teach you a little Russian (I only know a little!) if you like.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share warm friendly conversation, philosophical debates (if you're into that), music, food, clothes. If you're game, I'm game.

I'm just open to new experiences, and I'd love to meet you!
