About Me

I currently work online as an ESL Teacher for kids aged 4-12. I grew up in Indianapolis, IN, USA and lived on my farm in Southern Indiana on the weekends and summers, working and exploring. I would disappear for the entire day as a child, exploring the rivers and forests, this has obviously influenced who I am today.

I don’t let the things I can’t change bother me. I focus my life around a physically, mentally, and spiritually healthy body, so I can enjoy a stress free and happy attitude all day long. I also enjoy exercising and eating healthy.

After graduating from University, I decided to embark on a different kind of education experience. In May of 2015 I bought a one way ticket to Colombia, and began hitchhiking. I ended up living in a van, surfing my way to Brazil over the course of a year and seeing everything in between. I met the love of my life in a city in the north of Argentina. I spent some time working as a Divemaster in the Gulf of Thailand and traveling around Southeast Asia, sailed in the Caribbean and criss crossed the USA in an attempt to see the beautiful geography this planet has to offer.

I love good music, whether it be the Blues, Jam Bands, Jazz, or anything with a foot tapping beat! Nature plays a huge part in my life and I love trekking, rock climbing, mountain biking, fly fishing, scuba diving and snowboarding/skiing!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am interested in gaining a local experience for the places I go to. Of course there are tourist spots in every country, and many of those I enjoy, however, there is something to be said for having a new friend in a new town! Whether that be for gaining valuable insight to the best food or bar in town to the best hikes and camping areas to the not often visited historical sites!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most recent would be a 14 day back country trip with my college roommate in Patagonia, 140+ miles and 20,000 feet of elevation change. We planned it and executed it in a crescendo of natural glory! Hands down one of the best trekking/camping experiences I have had to date...

Teach, Learn, Share

“Learning does not make one learned: there are those who have knowledge and those who have understanding. The first requires memory and the second philosophy.”
― Alexandre Dumas

We thought of life by analogy with a journey, or a pilgramage, which had a serious purpose at the end. And the thing was to get to that end. Success or whatever that is, or maybe heaven, even after you are dead. But we missed the point the whole way along. IT WAS A MUSICAL THING, YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO SING OR TO DANCE WHILE THE MUSIC WAS BEING PLAYED. -Alan Watts

“I possessed nearly five thousand volumes in my library at Rome; but after reading them over many times, I found out that with a hundred and fifty well-chosen books a man possesses a complete analysis of all human knowledge, or at least all that is either useful or desirable to be acquainted with. – Abbe Faria”
― Alexandre Dumas

What I Can Share with Hosts

American culture: what the cities look like, how the people act, American politics, etc. I have ample experience with trekking and guiding so if we decide to go outdoors I am happy to help with planning! My girlfriend and I love to cook and would be happy to do that as well! I enjoy good conversation and making lifelong friendships. I also enjoy stimulating conversation over a late night beer or glass of wine!
