Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I moved to Chicago after college and loved it. 5 years later, work took me back to Iowa. While Iowa has plenty of perks, diversity isn't one of them.

I love hearing people's stories, especially people who are different than me. Spending time with you will teach me something which I can grow from for the rest of my life.

Interests

Board games -- anything from chess to Agricola to Word Winders. I've got quite a collection if you've got any spare time.
Reading -- see below.
Cycling -- there's lots of great trails around. Plus that RAGBRAI thing.
Fantasy football -- it's a year-round hobby.

Books: The Bible, How to Win Friends and Influence People, Lord of the Rings, whatever I'm reading at the moment.

Music: soft/contemplative/Indie stuff. Johnny Cash, Simon and Garfunkel, Of Monsters And Men

Rather than movies, I tend to watch TV shows (Big Bang Theory, Black Mirror, House of Cards, Sherlock) or YouTube (CGP Grey, Talks At Google, ...).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Just finished RAGBRAI (Register's Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa). It was awesome. The locals are incredible, food was awesome. I'm putting a group together for next year -- want to join us?

The Taj Mahal is far and away the most beautiful sight ever. After the tour, we hung out in the garden and talked. You just can't have your back to it for more than a minute before you have to turn around and take another awe-inspiring peek.
