Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To travel the world, eat good food, and meet awesome people.
ABOUT ME
Benjamin - I am a pretty gregarious person. Heather (my wife) laughs because I ask people so many questions. However, if someone is shy I try to take it easy. But I do it because I like learning a lot about people. I am a good cook. Hence I pretty much cook all of our meals.
I am also a huge BSG fan. So say we all!
Heather - Heather is also a friendly person and always happy...even in the morning. That is what everyone notices. She is a rockstar! She loves to dance (must be the Latin blood) and workout. She runs, lifts weights, and all sorts of other stuff.
Gaius - Gaius joined our family recently. He likes to laugh, smile, and giggle. We are currently working on rolling over and holding toys.
We love to be active and we will make sure you have an awesome time. That's us!
PHILOSOPHY
Heather and I are open to other people, their views, all types lifestyles, food preferences or whatever so don't be shy. As long as you are respectful of us, we will do the same.
We are very welcoming, so don't hesitate to request to spend the night, unless you are a cannibal.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
We started a several years ago with the Miami CS group and jumped right in. We have had a lot of people stay over already and have several more scheduled.
We are actually starting to intuitively recognize CS'ers. Basically, they are the coolest friendliest people around!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Really, really, great! We work very hard to make sure you have a great time while you are here. We work on the principle of "Pay it forward." If we went out of our way to give you a ride or cook you dinner etc, please make sure to do that for someone else in the future. We believe that you get out of it what you put into it, so if you want to stay with us please look forward to an engaging cultural exchange.
Interests
TRAVEL:
Heather and I love to travel. We have been to 37 countries so far...It is our goal to see over 100 countries sometime in our life. We have also lived in Canada, China, and India. We love to eat many types of food and regularly go to restaurants that serve food from all over the world. Most recently we found an awesome Salvadorian restaurant that serves Papusas. Fantastic! She speaks Spanish and I speak Mandarin.
We live close to the beach and try our best to go 1 or 2 times a week. Aside from the beach we love to read or check out dive bars and hang out with friends.
We also try to travel outside the U.S once or twice a year. Most recently we traveled to South Africa, Zambia, Botswana, and Zimbabwe.
SAILING:
We are getting into sailing. We have been out on catamarans, monohulls, and powered boats. We are into a sailing course now, and hope to become proficient at operating a boat. Fort Lauderdale is a great place to work on this.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
First and foremost (and at the risk of sounding cheesy), my wife left me awestruck. I was hooked from the first minute and haven't stopped since. After that we both try to keep life fun so here are a few crazy things we have done:
In Mongolia we slept with a family of Nomads in a Ger (Yurt) for a few days. Waking up each morning with the entire family plus a goat or two.
In China we attended a wedding deep in the mountains. We ate frogs, duck tongue, and just about every part of a pig (for dinner) and bathed in a copper bowl that the family would fill up with water.
We traveled into the Amazon Rain Forest and stayed for a few days observing Caiman, insects, and strange animals.
