我为什么加入 Couchsurfing

To encourage a unified and borderless world, where we trade favours and spread the generosity our world needs.

Travelling for me is one of the most exciting parts of life, seeing new places and meeting new people have played a huge role in shaping who i am today. It it for this reason that i think couch surfing is the best way to travel and meet new people. Not only can we find like-minded folks, but it enables a much better connection to the area visited....

I don't want to see what the tour guide thinks i want to see, i want to see what life is like for the people, and get as immersed in the culture as possible... well and maybe see some of the touristy sights too ;)

Anything Outdoors!!! (mountain climbing, skiing, rock climbing, longboarding, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, mountain biking, BMXing, camping, basketball, rugby, just to name the regulars)

Meeting new folks with new perspectives; sharing our experiences, knowledge and philosophies.

Building things (working with my hands). Namely landscaping and woodworking, where i build my own custom longboards and skateboards.

Music:
I am very passionate about music (gutted i only ever took the time to learn the drums but what can you do when there are a million other things to do in life!). Over the past 10 years my collection has grown exponentially, moving from rap/rock/DnB to tribal/country/folk and far beyond. One of my favourite things to do with people i meet is to find out what kind of music they listen to. Many of the artists and genres that i love today have been introduced to me by someone i have met in my travels. And likewise i hope to be able to share the music i have found with all who would like to hear it :)

Movies:
I do love a good flick, although the type of movie generally depends on my mood :P Top favourites include: Into the Wild, Shawshank Redemption, Austin Powers, Finding Nemo, Little Miss Sunshine, Hotel Rwanda, Snatch, Lock Stock and Two Smokin Barrels, Pulp Fiction, just to name a few. Also, even though its not movies, any documentary with David Attenborough.

Books:
Non-fiction/Scientific, Fantasy (e.g. David Gemmell/Christopher Paolini)

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

I outran (or maybe scared off) a bear on the grand teton mountain range. Caught his eyes in my torch light at night near my campsite... I did not stick around long enough to find out what it wanted, and fortunately the bear did not decide that i looked like a nice tasty easy treat. Nothing quite like the adrenaline you get from thinking you're about to be eaten!!!
