Just reactivated my Couchsurfing after a long hiatus. It's such a great nostalgia trip reading through old messages and such a relief to see the site is still somewhat alive after the paywall fiasco. :) Hello again everyone!
Into my 4th decade now, I'm getting ready to relocate my life once again, looking for sunnier climes and continuing my slow migration south towards the Mediterranean. I've led my previous lives mainly in the north of Ireland, where I was born; in England, where I did my first studies; and in Belgium where I was as settled as a nomad could be, and lived for most of my twenties.
In between I lived for shorter periods of time in France, Canada, the Netherlands and Poland. I've been lucky enough to travel around almost every country of the European Union, as well as a few little corners of North America, Africa and Asia.
For almost 2 years I've been taking on a new career - I retrained as a baker and I've been working in various organic sourdough bakeries in Belgium since then. Wherever I travel from now on I'm looking to learn from the local bread culture, and see how it can become a part of my craft. I'm also looking for a place where I can settle and start my own business baking bread.
I'm looking forward to reconnecting with this fantastic community of nomadic souls, and learning from the wide world around me once again. See you on the way!
