About Me

Hey there,

I'm trying my best to put this in words, so you get an idea of the person I am - enjoy :P

My name is Mido, but some people also call me by my nickname Benji. 22 years old, born and raised in Germany, while my parents are from Tunisia.

Kinda proud to call myself both, German and Tunisian, since both is part of my heritage and I know what it means to live in each of these deeply different countries.
Yet, I do not like to make a big deal of it, since it should not matter where one comes from. What is of true importance, is who you are as a person and I'm trying to live up to this philosophy each and every day.

Describing myself, I'd say I'm a thoughtful person who's still trying to keep and take things as easy as they mostly are or can be.
You'll find that I'm good fun with people - open mind, heart and ears for whoever is ready to share his/her stories and that's what I love most: going into deep with people, holding real conversations while enjoying some beer :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Our flat offers so much space that I kinda see it as a commitment to the community, that we share. We welcome anyone who's looking forward to crash at a nice place and to enjoy some leisure with truly dear people - talking about my flatmates :)

Besides, I'm starting a journey myself hitchhiking all around Europe. Offering travelers our bed, I'd love to get the chance to fill up my karma and, someday, other surfers might want to share with me, too.

Getting to know some other surfers and the community’s spirit, which can only be a positive opportunity to make authentic and life-changing experience in each different country - I'm really looking forward to share that :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Most of the time, I listen to Hip Hop (J. Cole, Styles of Beyond, Kendrick Lamar).
But I’m also into Rock, Punk and Metal (Linkin Park, Rise Against, System of A Down, 5FDP) and Soul (Sam Smith, James Arthur, Jorja Smith)
You should be aware that it’s most likely that I sing along when listening to my favorite artists :D

I find myself listening really close when it comes to the lyrics. I appreciate artists who put all their thoughts, feelings and energy together and find special ways to express them- it's what truly affects and inspires me.

Same thing goes for...

Movies: Inception, Interstellar, Secret Window, Shutter Island, Forrest Gump, Batman/The Dark Knight, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Into the Wild, Hotel Ruanda, Blind Side, Prometheus

and Books: There Are Two Errors in the the Title of this Book, Couchsurfing im Iran, A Brief Story of Mankind,

I often read traveling stories, where people share their experience and some beautiful stories of their all-around-the-globe-journeys.
Best thing would be to find more people to tell me about theirs in person - maybe it's your story, that will truly blow my mind :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

x Took part in Poetry Slams and certainly will do more often while on tour 🌍

x Hitchhiked countries of Europe and still counting 💪🏽

Teach, Learn, Share

Over the last few years, I developed high interest and improved my skills in cooking and I think a shared meal tastes at least twice as good, so I’m glad to be preparing some proper German dishes for you :)
Working as a barkeeper, I learned to make some lovely, cheerful drinks - it’s pretty cool to get creative with Cocktails, but I’m also fine with a nice cold beer haha🍻

Besides, I might show and tell you something about our culture in Southern Germany (also known as Swabia) and about the life in Tunisia.

Also, I’m honestly excited about having the chance to learn something about your culture!
Doesn't matter if it's the language, the cuisine, the way of living/life philosophy - I'm just really curious and would love to see and experience new stuff just like I did in the past few months :)

I’m always down to learn something new! Whether it’s sports (currently into yoga and breakdancing), another language or an instrument.
I love challenge, no matter what it is, and it’s really cool to get to know a new side of myself every time I achieve something 💪🏽
