Overview
About Me
Benjamin Lee? Who?
A Master's student in Munich. After spending time in the corporate sector, I realised my passion was to always be in the classroom, and I aspire towards an academic career in the near future.
I'm always in for a chat, and I tend to do my best by trying to accommodate any topic of discussion. Not that good of a drinker (I would describe my tolerance at average at best), but a few pints are fine to help with expanding and discovering new topics!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I used to travel quite actively as a student, but less so as work- and Master's-life kicked in.
Any prior Couchsurfing?
Surfed 5 days in Taipei, Taiwan with Seth & Lauren.
Surfed 2 days in Tainan, Taiwan with Hsien.
Surfed 4 days in Berlin, Germany with Caspar.
Surfed 3 days in Dublin, Ireland with Stephen.
Interests
The artsy side of me loves museums and art galleries.
The serious side of me can discuss about religion, politics, cultures, and race. No biggy if the discussion goes into controversial territory - what's the point of a discussion if we're not including everything into the conversation?
The gluttonous side of me will eat just about anything.
- cooking
- movies
- sightseeing
- food
- football
- outdoors
- museums
- esports
Music, Movies, and Books
Very biased towards a good title, so I have a strong inclination towards books and movies with catchy/interesting titles. So generally, I don't have a favourite genre - anything that catches the eye (almost?) will do!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Being arrested for participating in a rally. I believe I do have a record on me, as I took a mugshot. The police figured we were threatening, and shot tear gas and water cannons at us. It's been 8 years and I don't think I'll ever forget the stinging feeling of tear gas.
But we have a new government in place now, so my grudges against the establishment have slowly toned down.
Teach, Learn, Share
Would love to share my personal experiences, both in Malaysia and abroad, to anyone willing to share their time with me. I'm also very keen on learning and understanding different cultures!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can't whip up a 3-course meal (I'm learning!) but I can definitely make something simple and homey. I'd love to share a good conversation over a meal. I'll help keep the place clean, and no mess will be brought to your place. I compromise very well, and if there are any limitations or requirements that I need to follow at your place, I'll very happily follow them!
Ultimately, I believe I can share a spectrum of perspectives and personal thoughts, ranging from my upbringing, my experiences, and my outlook for the future :)
