About Me

I'm a third year "public corporate tracking" veterinary student from Virginia Tech. I've a passion for animal health, cooking, gardening, singing, and personal development admittedly much of that agenda has been pushed to the back burner in veterinary scool.

In 2010 I was lost. I had graduated from college in Washington, DC in 2007, worked a few jobs, saved money, moved to California, worked a few jobs, saved money, and had spent an entire year traveling the continent mostly taking in national parks with my dog, Ranger. I stayed with a friend in San Jose, CA who encouraged me to go to Burning Man with her, I think it was "Metropolis" that year and I bought my ticket at the gate. About a 5 days into camping in the Black Rock Desert I learned something that I had heard before but that I simply hadn't believed: "you can do anything you put your mind to."

When I left the black rock desert, I picked up my dog from family friends in Reno, NV and traveled home to New Jersey for the first time since 2005 where I went about pursuing my dreams. I always wanted to be a veterinarian but had heard "its harder to get into vet school than it is to get into medical school" and that's true, but I did. Now, 7 years on, I'm getting ready to enter my fourth year of veterinary school, I'm doing well academically and inter-personally and am in a committed loving relationship of 2 and a half years duration.

I'm a very good cook and particularly developed in french, indian, and isralie cusines. I love to garden. I love my two friendly, cuddly chihuahuas, Pip and Ruby (Ranger passed away in 2014).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I will be traveling for 8 externships in my fourth year of Veterinary School, May 2017-May2018. These are 3-week experiences working under veterinarians in a variety of contexts. I'm looking to have a great diversity of experience and to that end am traveling outside of where I have family and friends to host me. I thought couch-surfing would be a good way to meet people in the area's I'll be working.

Simple differences between a black bear and a grizzly bear's skat: black bear skat has berries in it and smells slightly like sulfur, grizzly bear skat often has little bells in it and smells like pepper spray.
