My name is Ben and I was born in Swanage England and moved to Washington State in the US when I was young. I grew up in a small community and have made very close friends who I am still in contact with. I am 27 years old and I hold a degree in Horticulture, plants are my passion and I'm always looking to learn from others and expand my knowledge. I see myself as a kind, loyal, caring person, I love meeting new people even though I can be a little shy in the beginning.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am currently taking a trip to England and around Europe. I will be staying with family and in Hostels for the most part but I want to meet people who are local to the areas I will be visiting and learn the local culture and have more of an intimate relationship with the countries and cities I visit.

Interests

Let's see, I love working with plants and nature, I have quite a large collection of Bonsai tree's at home but I enjoy growing everything, especially succulents. I used to play football a lot but after a few injuries I'm now more of a spectator (Manchester United) although I do love to kick it around still. I love going on hikes and really exploring nature in its most pure form. Any outdoor activities are right up my ally and I'm always in to try new things. I love to play games of all sorts, board games especially but also card and dice games, getting to know people around a fun interactive game is great.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I like most classic rock, especially Queen, The Who, Paul Simon and The Beatles. I like electronic music like Daft Punk, Ratatat and some house. I also like Rap, mostly Dr. Dre, Biggy, AOTP, and Devin the Dude. I'm also known to listen to classical composers, Vivaldi, Mozart, and lots of others that are escaping me.

Movies/TV: Let's see, where to begin. Firefly is my all time favorite show followed closely by Red Dwarf. A couple of my favorite movies would have to be Bond movies (Especially Gold Finger and Dr. No), Star Wars, The Power of One, Equilibrium, Boondock Saints, Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch, and i'll stop there.

Books: Oh geez, this list could go on forever, I'll just start spouting them off, The Power of One, Dr. Dolittle, A Song of Ice and Fire, The Dark Tower series, The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy series, His Dark Materials series, Sword of Truth series, 1984, Trainspotting, A Brave New World, Calvin and Hobbes (I know its a comic, but I love it), Harry Potter series, Ender's Game series, and many more.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to teach about Plants, growing them, caring for them, propagating them. I can teach you some great card/dice games. I like to learn anything new, so teach me and i'll sponge it up!
