About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Enjoy life and learn as much as I can

ABOUT ME

I'm a man with many interests trying to experience everything life can offer in the short time we're here. I graduated from Michigan State and The Film School in Seattle.

I've had the fortune to work on many great films, including Natural Selection and I'm So Sorry To Hear About Henry.

I've written several screenplays and am currently working on a novel.

I love music and theatre and have directed several plays. I love to travel, and I've been to 12 countries.

Soon, I'll be attending law school and starting the "serious" phase of my life. But you still need to have fun in the meantime, right?

PHILOSOPHY

I'm driven by curiosity: I want to know, understand, and experience everything around me. I'm fascinated by people and the different ways they find to travel through life. My goal is to never waste a day and experience all the world has to offer.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've surfed quite a bit and am very active with the Austin community.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I spent time surfing with a wonderful group in Seattle, and took a three week cross country journey through 10 states and tons of awesome CSers. I've surfed in San Francisco and Chicago, and I spend a lot of my time enjoying the wonderful weirdness of Austin with other couchsurfers.

Music, Movies, and Books

Film:

Tarantino, Leone, the Coens, Lumet, Fincher, Nolan, Anderson (PT and Wes), van Sant, dozens of other great directors.

Music:

A fair bit of everything these days. Centered in 'indie' (as much as that label means anything): rock, jam, hip hop, folk, bluegrass, electronic, dubstep, reggae. Basically, if it plays at a festival, I probably like it. Some highlights:

Dave Matthews Band, Led Zeppelin, Radiohead, Black Keys, Gorillaz, Edward Sharpe, Lotus, Big Gigantic, Aesop Rock, Childish Gambino, M83, Bon Iver, Sublime.

Books:

Lots of sci-fi fantasy from my youth; some more 'real' novels as I've grown older.

Hyperion Cantos, Ender's Game, A Song of Ice and Fire, The Dark Tower, Less Than Zero, Infinite Jest, The Unbearable Lightness of Being, anything Chuck Palahniuk

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've hang glided above New Zealand's Queenstown.

I've done the Dance of the Seven Veils in front of a live audience in the character of J Edgar Hoover.

I meandered a Jamaican village and bought a beautiful turtle.

I climbed Mount Doom.

I snorkled in a thundering rainstorm in Cozumel and passed inches over a stingray.

I've been on one of the most doomed travel adventures I've ever heard anyone relate.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you some about filmmaking, writing, theatre, or just talk about the various amazing places in the world.
