About Me
Hello! I am from a small town surrounded by corn in the middle of America, and I am now studying at the University of Bremen, Germany. I am currently studying Tropical Aquatic Ecology at one of the largest marine research centers in Germany, with a focus on social issues revolving around marine resource use in developing coastal countries. I will most likely be traveling to Bangladesh for my thesis research later this year.
When I'm not up to my ears in homework, I enjoy spending time outdoors, particularly camping and hiking. My family lives in the Colorado Rocky Mountains and I spend as much time as possible out on the trail. When I am not enrolled in a graduate degree I am an avid reader, and love going on unplanned adventures, embarrassing myself in front of people from a variety of diverse cultural backgrounds, and watching Netflix with cheap bottles of wine.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have acted as a host intermittently before moving to Germany, although my Iowa town was not a particularly popular tourist destination ;) I am currently living in a small single room flat in Germany with my girlfriend, another Master's student at my university, so cannot host at the moment. I do, however, want to make as much use of couchsurfing as possible while living in Europe to make connections with people at the places I am lucky enough to visit.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Spending a week in a hospital in Fiji with a tissue infection after cutting my leg on a field trip to a coral reef. Ok maybe not amazing but as a story it usually makes a good icebreaker?
