About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To live in each moment!

ABOUT ME

I am currently trying to become a teacher in South America somewhere so that I can learn Spanish and also try to give micro finance a try in my off time. That's just what I put on the resume anyway but really, I'm looking to meet some cool people and hopefully find my calling in life on the way.

I'm a little shy at first and so initially get along best with talkative people. But I really believe that what makes or breaks a travel experience, or any experience for that matter, are the people you meet!

PHILOSOPHY

Gosh, this is a big question! I guess I'm searching for my calling, and since I haven't figured out what it is yet, I'm very open minded and love hearing how other people found theirs. I really enjoy thinking about how to make things better, whether it's someone's personal situation, or a socio-political conundrum.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have only used this site to surf so far but will host when I am done traveling and have a couch to offer.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I just had my first couch surfing experience in Peru! It was great, I stayed with Rodrigo and his family and they were fantastic. They made my visit to Lima most enjoyable!

Interests

I love being active, physically and mentally! Although I also enjoy doing nothing at all. I play a lot of tennis when I am at home, play chess, study Spanish, and socialize with friends among other things.

At the moment, I'm interested in pursuing micro finance and computer science (and possibly finding a way to combine the two in the future).

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm not very pop-cultured but I do enjoy most types of music. Reading is awesome and while I wish I could do more, a few of my favorites are: A People's History by Howard Zinn, Life of Pi, Perks of Being a Wallflower, Dune, Stranger in a Strange Land, Atlas Shrugged (reading right now, although I have a little beef with the extreme political philosophy)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was in Spain, I got to participate in this program called Pueblo Ingles. Basically, 17 Anglos (including me) and 17 Spaniards went to this quaint little villa on the border of Spain and Portugal for a week and conversed with each other. The goal was to immerse the Spaniards in the English language, but so much more was achieved in those few days! I can't begin to explain the friendships that developed and the connections that were made.

Teach, Learn, Share

I've traveled a lot and so would enjoy sharing those experiences with someone that was interested. I am very analytically minded and I think one of the most valuable things that I can teach is the ability to approach problems in an effective manner. As far as learning, I enjoy learning in general no matter what it is, but I suppose above all else, I'd like to learn what I want to learn about :)
