About Me

I am a 23 year old student from Germany, currently I am living in Berlin.

I am a rather calm person, which does not mean I don't like to socialise.

I really do not know what to write here, maybe we should simply have a talk. :D

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I started my couchsurfing account when I did work&travel in New Zealand, that was 2013 I think. First it was all about grabbing a free bed, but the more people I met via the CS community the more I realized it's about more than just saving money. I enjoyed some really enlightening chats with hosts I met and came to appreciate the exchange of cultures.
Well, I am even studying culture at university by now. And I am working as a hostel receptionist, so I guess I found something I like with the help of Couchsurfing.

So if you want to tell me something about your home-country or experiences from all over the world, or you want to listen to some of my stories (I'm a terrible storyteller though :D) or if you are just a nice person that either needs a bed - or has a couch to offer -, we are on the same page. Always feel free to message me :)

Interests

I like to draw, write and read, I'm a big fan of festivals and live gigs as well as everything people consider "nerdy".
That means video games, trading cards games, pen and paper RPGs and so on. That does not mean I would not leave the house. I always liked hiking around; waking up from fresh morning dew on the sleeping bag is one of the very best feelings to me.
Last but not least as a German I like beer a lot. And with beers come the parties and the clubs and the pubs!

Music, Movies, and Books

That's a hard one.

For music I go with everything rather heavy, I like metalcore, that kind of stuff; as concerts can work as a kind of outlet for me - I'm not a sports-person, so I enjoy gigs as my physical activities. If that makes any sense.
But I also love classics like The Beatles and Led Zeppelin, from The Doors over Nirvana to the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
And finally I'm living in Berlin so there is no way to get around electronic music, raves and such. But I do not consider myself as an expert in this scene.
Some bands to check out for you, if you do not know them yet:
Enter Shikari, Allusondrugs and good old In Flames. At least if you like rather heavy guitar music.

Star Wars is probably the only movies you will always need.
Still, I do like series (GoT?) and Anime as well. And classics like Bladerunner, Alien and such.
Ah, Matrix!
Well, probably there IS more than Star Wars.

My favourite books are Orwell's 1984, The Catcher in the Rye and everything Edgar Allan Poe and H.P. Lovecraft ever wrote.
But there is so much more. Unfortunately studying literature kind of spoiled more trivial literature for me though. Okay, except Lovecraft. Still, I'm a big Sci-Fi and Fantasy fan still.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was in Thailand we had a scooter trip with one of my best childhood-friends and two people we met on the road.
None of us ever handled a scooter in all their lives and on the first day we came into a storm just before nightfall. In the mountains.
I think we crashed three or four times, without anyone but ourselves ever to be involved. We just slipped and fell down, the roads being wet and our driving being terrible. One drove over the other's leg, I lost controle over the scooter and ran into the ditch full speed, and so on.
It was extremely scary at the time, but luckily we came out with just a lot of scratches.
By now we all consider the whole scooter trip as one of the best and funniest things we did during our time in South-East-Asia, but I also try to keep in mind how arrogant and lucky we all were.

Teach, Learn, Share

Except sharing experiences, stories and maybe advice about stuff I really do not have any teachable skills I'm afraid.
Maybe if you want to learn German I can help you with that, or English if yours is worse than mine. But unfortunately I do not play any instruments or something like that even though I do love to draw and write.

Maybe we just learn from one another by talking about ideas and views on life :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

Firstly my eternal gratitude and the promise to always have a place to sleep in Berlin. Or, if you are travelling across Germany I can of course try and use my contacts to help you out finding a bed anywhere around here.

If you want to know anything about German or European culture I can probably share some knowledge about that as well as anything about my interests from above and beyond.
I can also try and cook something for you. I'm still learning though and you would probably do way better, but it would be fun, right? :D

And of course I would love to enjoy your company, so if you do have the time and want to show me your city or if you simply want to go out for a beer or two I will definitely be up for that.
