Overview
About Me
Hey, I'm Ben and the the person you see with me in all my photos is my partner Ashlyn. We are in an open relationship and together we share a passion for life, travel and exploration. We just want to get out there and amongst it, leaving our comfort zones behind in the pursuit of life experiences and new perspective.
For us it's the natural elements of the world which excite us most and man made things like cities, building and shopping complexes kind of scare us a little.
We both share a Vegan lifestyle, an aspect of life we love sharing with others but rarely have the opportunity to.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Life is better when you share it with someone, and while we have been extremely lucky to have each other, we have discovered that great friends can make things much more exciting.
Couchsurfing for us is a way to escape our comfort zones, meet new people share diverse cultures.
Diversity is the spice of life after all
Interests
Nature is our playground and spying the world's wildlife is our sport.
Travel makes it all possible and photography helps us remember our tales and share them with others.
Also we have done heaps of vehicle based traveling and I (Ben) have quite an unhealthy obsession with all things motorised. For me they are the ultimate keys for freedom.
More recently however we want to explore hiking.
To date day hikes have been our thing as we have always relied on a vehicle to get us away from civilization. However we have had a small taste of hiking with overnight camps and we think that it might just be our groove.
It's definitely something we need to explore more thoroughly.
Music, Movies, and Books
We are both really into Punk/Hardcore/Metal music. Bands like In Hearts Wake, Parkway Drive, A Day to Remember, Beartooth, Stick to Your Guns, The Amity Affliction and others.
We love watching movies, more so the ones that make you think.
Not really big book readers. We would like to be, but can't really get into it. Too much of a TV show fan.haha
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
There can't just be one amazing thing to do in life, we want it to all be amazing.
--Travelled 60,000 km around Australia for 18 months, exploring national parks, wildlife and camping the whole time.
--Experienced a 6.8 magnitude earthquake in the town of Bagan in Myanmar
--Spent 4 days trekking in the Sumatran Jungle where we saw wild orangutan, leaf monkeys, macaques, civets and other cool wildlife.
--Quit our jobs and sold all our stuff to travel... Twice!
-- Backpacked around Southeast Asia for 8 months with only 20L backpacks
-- Rode 10,000km+ on our Royal Enfield Himalayan through India and Nepal
