About Me
Hello!
I'm Berenice, I am 34 years old and I live in Capital Federal, in Buenos Aires. I am very grateful to live in this amazing city, I love it.
I'm a laid-back traveler who thrives on exploring new cultures and destinations. I've had the opportunity to spend three months in Florida, USA, where I worked at the Hard Rock Hotel, six months in France during an exchange program and recently I've been in Brazil for almost two months. Now I'm back and already planning for my next trip.
While my academic background lies in tourism and hospitality, I made a professional shift a few years ago and currently I am a web developer, working remotely, which allows me to be present at home during working hours or travel around while working.
I am also a huge cinephile, you would see me watching all kinds of series and films and I love to talk about it and discuss this topic if you are interested. If you work in the film industry, I'll make a lot of questions, beware.
Enough about me, some things to consider if you send a hosting request:
Neighborhood:
I live in Once neighborhood, whose official name is Balvanera. It's a commercial district, so full with all kinds of shops. People usually come to this neighborhood to buy cheap clothes, fabrics, party supplies, etc. Two subway lines are right next to my apartment, lots of buses and also a train station. I am very used to living here and I don't find it dangerous, but I will give you some advice on how to move around because, sadly, it sometimes can be.
Home:
I reside in a spacious apartment that I've taken great delight in decorating and that I'm always working on. I have a spare private room, where I usually work when is empty. It has a double bed, desk and a tv.
The bathroom is shared only with me, the kitchen is small but very well equipped. In the common space, there is a sofa, a TV, a big speaker, a record player with a small collection of vinyl records, and some crazy lights.
I have two amazing cats, Alma and Pascal. They both have distinct personalities but they are both very sociable. Alma is a demanding diva, while Pascal is docile and kind-hearted (though not the sharpest tool in the shed). They adore being around people and might sometimes invade your personal space, you are warned!
Hosting Style and Expectations:
As an introvert, I'm taking a more independent approach to hosting these days. While I enjoy meeting new people, I also value my personal space and I spend a lot of time at home. I have an extra key that will allow you to come and go as you please.
While I may not fulfill the role of a tourist guide or a party companion, I'm more than happy to share some moments, food, and conversations, and perhaps even enjoy a movie together. I do have recommendations for local places to explore, eat, and visit.
I prefer to host travellers who are visiting Buenos Aires as tourists and won't spend all the time at the house, though any different situation I may consider if it's a short stay. Sadly I had some not great experiences with other kinds of travellers so now I feel obliged to ask a few questions about your intentions for the stay and about your expectations of the host. I think couchsurfing is for cultural exchange, not about free accomodation, and I encountered some people that I felt did not share this view. In the same line, I will not be answering any messages that are not personal, showed that you haven't read my profile, copy pasted msg, etc.
House rules:
I have to include some rules based on some experiences that CS left me, so here it goes:
- Please keep your showers short (15-20 minutes at most) for water economy reasons.
- Use the kitchen and utensils carefully (check that the gas is closed, take good care of my Essen pots and wash what you use appropiately).
- Wear clothes around the house, not underwear.
- Leave the room as you found it, clean and organised, including the bin.
- 3000 ARS or 3USD are required for the clean bed linen. I don't have a washing machine and I have to send them to the laundry, and they take a lot of space in the bag, so this is a must for me and it will show that you are considerate.
Smoking Policy:
I don't smoke tobacco, and smoking is not permitted inside the apartment. However, I do indulge in smoking weed after finishing work. If this is a concern for you, please keep it in mind before making your decision.
PS: to show that you have read my profile, mention my cat's names in your request.
