About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Empowering people through digital storytelling

ABOUT ME

Well, I've never been very good at writing resumes or coverletters, so I'd much rather meet you and show you who I am. But I can say this much: I'm an easygoing lover of books, movies and travel.

I've come to realise that I don't have to fit into one of those boxes I've feared all my life, I am actually in control of my own happiness and there are other ways of living than working 9-5. I truely believe it is possible, and I'm confident I'll figure out how to do it along the way.

PHILOSOPHY

My mantra these days is Fun, Freedom and Happiness things I want in every aspect of my life.

Everything happens for a reason. You never know which cards you are dealt in life, but finding the positive angle on even the worst experiences helps you to go forward in life as a happy and balanced person.

Say what you mean and act how you feel, because those who matter don’t mind, and those who mind don’t matter.
Dr. Seuss

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've surfed on couches around the world, but mostly I'm participating in the cities I live in or visit. I love meeting people through CS, as they all seem to be the creme de la creme. Always friendly, openminded and most you meet a couple of times and it feels like you've been friends for years. As a host I like to make my guests feel welcome and if I have the time I'll show them some of my favorite places in the city and share some insider tips.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have met really great people through CS so far. And I love the way it is not only a place where you can find a place to sleep, but also a community where you can find new friends and people who are openminded and who want to share who they are, and what they know.

Interests

Digital Storytelling ( a process for empowerment through making your own personal movie). If you're interested, I can talk about this for a very long time ;)

Entrepreneurship: I want to be my own boss, and I love working with innovation.

Travel and meeting interesting people.

But I also enjoy other things in life: Friends, movies (wrote my master thesis on Korean movies), books ( I have a bachelors degree in comperative literature), wine, dancing, walking the streets of the cities I live in and visit and so on...

Being in my hometown for some time and missing my friends from around the world, I've been very much into social media lately. I really love how they can make the world smaller and on the same time open it up.

Music, Movies, and Books

My all time favorite movie is Moulin Rouge, I simply love the way music, love and beauty comes together. But as long as the story and the acting is good, I like a lot of different movies.

My first love was the books though, and I still read a lot. Some of my favorite authors are Salman Rushdie, Zadie Smith, Paul Auster, Jonathan Safran Foer etc.

I like to listen to jazz a lot, mostly vokal jazz, Billie Holliday is one of my favorites. I also like some of the new young soul singers as Amy Winehouse, Duffy, Emilie Sande. I've also started taking singing lessons and my favorite songs are by Alicia Keys, Emilie Sande and the Danish singer Tina Dico.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've walked through Northen Spain on the Camino Frances two times, and the whole experience changed me, and made me think of life in a different way. Besides that, most of the scenery is amazing!

Experiencing the trust, love and openness of all the great people I met travelling and couchsurfing the US in 2011. They made my trip so much more interesting and showed me how wonderful the world can be. Only downside is that I really want to do it again, and hopefully I will.
