Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think Couchsurfing is a good way to meet new people and even to stay in contact with them when you continue travelling. Additionally, I guess that it is a much more personal way to make new friends all over the world since you live in somebody's home and you get to know their way of living and their values.
Also, you get to know the local people of the area where you stay, so as a backpacker, you do not feel like the "real tourist" and you can do a different travel experience.
