TO BE HOSTED:
- Send us a nice, personal request. Don't send us a copy-and-past-request, please! We are NOT hosting REQUESTS SAYING "BECAUSE ACCOMODATIONS ARE EXPENSIVE/BOOKED" (or similar): CS is about social exchange and not about sleeping over for free.
Because of the recent experiences we have had, we have to add:
Being a cs-host means: investing time for our guest/guests - usually several hours. So it is not to much, that we expect a nice and individual request. If the request is not this, you get a "No!" and nothing more. We think, it is wasting time to answer for a copy-and-paste-request with more than this. We don't want to educate you, but this should be the basis on which an understanding is based.
- Tell us what meal (from your homecountry) you would like to prepare for us. We would love to serve you a meal too, so also let us know about your food restrictions.
- Since communication is very important to us, you should be fluent in at least one of the languages we speak.
- We are also interested in our environment, so we try to live an ecologic life. When you are here, please respect the fact that we do not use more energy or water than necessary.
- we are non-smokers...
- we do not expect a gift, but if you won't come with empty hand: some fruits, a flower or some biscuits would be nice... And: we mean it "genau so"...
- We respect the fact that every culture has it's own typical issues. When you are a guest here, we expect you to clean up your own stuff, to help in the kitchen or in the household where you want and can. Clean up your own room, the bathroom after using,... We like talking and learning, so we expect you to take some time to chat with us. We want to get to know you, your country and your way of living.
OUR CALENDER
We have a lot of activities during the week, I have to work in shifts. Weekends are more open. Depending on how independent you are, we can host you weekdays or weekends ;-)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I travelled several times with a bicycle across Eastern/Southeastern Europe Europe (Poland, Rumania, Turkey, Greec, Serbia, ...), Italy, Spain, ... and Asia (Usbekistan, ... India, China, ...), some times together with my wife.
Often we were invited to stay at local peoble and we became friends. Now we (my Family) wants to give back some of the positive experiences ("Revanche").
But - at the other Hand - we hope to get some contact to travellers with stories/experiences firsthand.
I've registered back in 2012 to be prepared to sleep for free if it becomes necessary. :D
It took me some time to realize that the site is not about free accommodation. :D You have to adjust your plans to your host/surfer considerably enough. So this surfing stuff only makes sense if the person you meet is worth spending some time with. (Except when you are a 20 year old student and want to travel as cheap as possible. :D )
