About Me

Hard to describe myself. I'm a quiet person, at least in the beginning. I'm interested in history, architecture, nature, geography and politics. As software developer I'm of course interested in computers and technics. I like Linux and OpenSource (if that doesn't tell you anything).

I like trains. Just because I can do anything what I want when travelling by train. I can sleep, I can listen to music, I can read a book and I can just watch around the landscape. At most I like “slow” trains like crossing the alps with an EuroCity or moving along the Rhein river while seeing the Lorelei. The best train journey was in Scandinavia from Trondheim northways and the Bernia line in Switzerland.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To find nice people and accommodation. Never hosted somebody so far, but that may change. :)

Interests

Well, I already wrote something about my interests in "About me". I'm not very skilful in sports, so I just do Cycling, Swimming and Hiking.

I'm member of a local history club so I take part in city tours in my area that go a bit deeper than the usual tourist stuff.

It's important for me to have some time for myself where I can do what I want, so I'm not a party person and I don't drink alcohol. However, I enjoy a good chat about something interesting so I'm not a nerd that sits in front of his computer or TV all the day.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like Rock, Album Rock, also Pop and especially German music like "Wir sind Helden" or "Die Ärzte".

When reading I like crime novels, thrillers and just novels. My favourite authors are Benedict Wells, Bernhard Aichner (not because he has the same first name) and Sebastian Fitzek.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

There are small things that matter.

People that don't know you but they help you without having an advantage. For example I was in Italy and I walked from Enna main station to Enna city. It's about 4 km uphill. On the road there were a few dogs that didn't let me pass. A nice girl driving outways saw this, stopped, took me into the city for nothing.

Teach, Learn, Share

Unfortunately, I'm not skilled in languages. My brain needs something to connect with, some kind of logics, so learning vocabulary always has been a nightmare for me since there's no connection between things. That's why I only know German and my English could be better. Maybe I try to learn some Scandinavian language since the vocabular is easy with German and English background.

I can show you interesting places of Nürnberg and tell you something about the history. And I can book the cheapest train ticket for you. :)

If you are German I can also teach you Bavarian language since I'm originally from the "real" Bavaria and not from Franconia.
