Overview
About Me
Welcome to my profile. My name is Bernhard, born and raised in Austria, speaking German and English – and a bit of Spanish. I've always liked traveling but also wanted to immerse myself in a different country and culture one day for more than just a few days – which I'm finally doing now in Uruguay! :)
A little bit about myself: I grew up in the countryside at the farm of my grandparents. Later I moved to the capital, Vienna. I really like being in nature as well as I love the city life with endless possibilities. I went to a school for graphic design and worked for over 10 years as graphic designer. Also I studied timebased and interactive media (artistic studies that focus on new media like film, kinetic art, but also performance, photography... it was a very broad field!). Last summer I graduated from a course that qualifies me as German teacher, a job which I would like to do in Uruguay.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I always like to get to know new people. My friends often describe me as rather calm and as a good listener. I would say I am very patient and definitely not hot-tempered. I am cheerful and optimistic and I look for that in other people as well. But I also appreciate to learn from other people's different points of view.
Interests
In my spare time I like to go hiking in the mountains (which is kind of normal when you are from Austria), also I am a photography enthusiast and bring my camera everywhere. I like to cook and I am mainly vegetarian (sometimes I eat fish), one of my favorite dishes is Flammkuchen.
Even though I really like concerts, exhibitions, cinema, festivals, theatre etc I also quite love to just be at home, reading a good book, having some tea.
