Good day!

I’m Bert, a average 32 yo Vegan Guy from belgium. I have a place in Ghent and work in Brussels, where I teach at an Applied University and do research.

I love travelling, exploring and meeting new people to connect. To fulfill the wanderlust and explore the world (my dream is to cover as many continents and islands as possible), I use not only my bike, the train or the plane. With Oscar, my Volkswagen T3 van I also like to explore. So not only couches, but also streets and driveways are awesome!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm really looking forward, as a brand-new CouchSurfer, to explore this new way of travel. And as a full on vegan boy, I like to explore the international plant-based kitchen and explore the freedom that life offers.

I am also looking forward to meet new people and connect with others. But nevertheless, I also enjoy time alone and wander around in (unknown) places.

Music, Movies, and Books

My interest in music and movies comes together in my love for soundtracks and music used in movies. Besides that, I love animated movies.

For books, I read mostly non-fiction. It's mostly linked to coaching, communication, cultural studies ... or food and baking!

Teach, Learn, Share

As Martin Buber once said "All Real Living is Meeting", I hope to learn a lot by listening and talking to others, to get to know their interests. I love to tell stories, read aloud, work with children and youngsters (as I do for a living).

Even I'm not the greatest cook alive, I am very eager to share my inspiration of the plant-based kitchen. But as I prefer cooking, talking and listening, I'm open for anything!

I'm also working on my collection of board games, so I feel happy to offer some game-time with my CouchSurfers!

What I Can Share with Hosts

As a modest kind of guy, I can offer my host a (hopefully) nice meal or desert. I can also offer (some) nights of baby-sitting (with some reading), some courses in Dutch or English and really want to jump in the household chores if wanted.

As I also love boardgames, I am a volunteer in playing any (board)game you want!
