ABOUT ME

Hi, I'm Bert, I'm 26 years old! I'm often to much excited about stupid stuff and I always want to stay a little bit like a child :). I'm a little bit shy but nevertheless I love meeting new people, especially after my experience abroad. I build up experience through an exchange program in university. After I worked for 1.5 year in the Netherlands (Rotterdam). Now I found a job back home in Belgium.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

July 2014 - Miguel Proença - Porto (Portugal) - 2 nights
Well it is hard to say, my first cs was this summer (2014) When I traveled through Portugal. I was really excited about the people I met and the hospitality I experienced. Also I had a really funny experience which I can tell you about ;-).

September 2015 - Mirjam - Vlaardingen (Netherlands) - 100 nights
Januari 2016 - Hans van der Knaap - Rotterdam (Netherlands) - 3 nights
Januari 2016 - Rajeev Rey - Rotterdam (Netherlands) 15 nights
Due to badluck with my landlord in the Netherlands I lost my flat. I was living together with some friends. One of them moved out and for that reason we broke the contract. We lost our grant and got kicked out immediatly. Because I didn't know immediatly what to do I searched on CS. I found 3 people who helped me a lot which I will always remember. My boss at my work let me down so I had a very difficult time in the Netherlands. For that reason I looked for work back home again. I can tell you more on this as well!!

Anyway because of all the help, warm welcomes, just everything that those people gave to me I would love to help someone and I decided to open my couch although it will be hard to convince my parents. If I can not host you I still can hang out or give you hints in what you should visit!

Interests

During my free time I love to go running and cycling. I can clear my mind by myself. I'm very competitive, that is why I love playing squash! I was a member and supervisor in the chiro for 16 years.
I love going to festivals because the atmosphere is indescribable, this is the reason I was always studying hard during the year to avoid exams during holidays.
During the winter I'm going for skiing. When I was a young boy I dreamed about being a skiing instructor.

Teach, Learn, Share

Personally I suggest everyone to meet/travel with local people. I know that travel guides always give you an idea of what is beautiful in a country to see but they never can get a cultural experience across. Meeting local people is sometimes hard, but those who want can always find a way to do so!
