About Me
I live in Madrid and hope to for a few years :) soy de londres. Travelling’s pretty cool but something that I think is best done by adjusting to the pace of a place. You can’t bring Paris to Ulaanbaatar.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Being able to share the joy of travel so authentically on here is heartwarming. It's fantastic! So often I see people walking around places I know well and not experiencing it as fully or enjoying it as much as they could be - that makes me sad; I want to show people the little restaurant I know, and the shortcut that takes you right there. And if I can have a slightly more immersive, eye opening visit to a place I'm yet to know that would be everything. Couch surfing seems an unparalleled and immersive way to travel and meet wonderful, interesting people.

Music, Movies, and Books
I am very much into literature and spend a lot of my time reading and writing; poetry is very dear to me and I enjoy Frank O'Hara, Sylvia Plath and Pablo Neruda's work. Ben Lerner is another (more contemporary favourite) but I enjoy his novels as well. One Hundred Years of solitude I think is phenomenal, recently I enjoyed reading Emma by Jane Austen.
My literature heavy interests sometimes bleed into other tastes of mine, Leonard Cohen is my favourite singer and a great poet. And while I enjoy similar singer-songwriters, I also listen to a lot of electronic music such as Apex Twin and Laurel Halo.
I'm fortunate to have grown up with both parents working in the film industry, as a result I have always been surrounded by lots of DVDs! If I was to pick a singular favourite it would be McCabe and Mrs Miller. I have also enjoyed films outside the English language, Jean Luc Goddard being a classic.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Travelled around Europe on my own at sixteen.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm an English teacher so am very happy to share that. And I'm always an eager Englishman when it come to learning other languages (they weren't great at teaching us in school). I like to learn about wine, history, literature, and art as well. Sharing stories, of faces and great places, would be swell as well.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Happiness for hosting me, respect for you and the place I am visiting. And a short poem, maybe some flowers.
