About Me

Hi. My name is Bert and I enjoy wandering around the world. I love the feeling of just following my feet. I try to travel with not a strict schedule but keeping it flexible to add last minute adventures. I graduated from college and worked in business. I didn’t really like it that much and now I am working on becoming a high school Spanish teacher. I enjoy meeting new people and different cultures.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I feel couchsurfing is an authentic way to get to know new people and new cultures. There is nothing more authentic that inviting or staying with someone in the person’s own personal space.

Interests

I am an avid soccer (football) player. I love to play, coach, and watch the game. I support Liverpool but will watch any game. I also enjoy learning about anything in Latin America (history, politics, culture). My love for Latin America has also gave me an appreciation about learning about other places and cultures.

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to all different types of music but my go to is punk music. I love going to concerts. I will watch most movies. As far as books, I am trying to become more of a reader. I love history and non fiction books. My all time favorite book is Siddhartha.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I shared a motorcycle across Vietnam with my friend. Neither of us had previous knowledge of how to drive one but we spent a month going about 1200 miles (1500 km). It was one of the craziest and most fun things I have ever done.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can provide wonderful conversation and I do like to take my host out to dinner. I am not a very good cook but I do like inviting people out to share a meal. Some of the best times and conversations are shared with food.
