About Me
Hi there, I'm Beth! To sum things up really quickly, I'm an artsy, geeky, queer 27 year old non-binary person living in Seattle, Washington. Empath. INFP and Taurus. I'm an intersectional feminist and care deeply about equality for everyone as well as being environmentally conscious. I tend to be a little on the quiet side, but I'm very friendly, easy-going, optimistic, and I love meeting new people!
I was born in Indonesia and lived there for most of 18 years before moving to Seattle. In those 18 years I also lived in Vietnam for 4 months, Cambodia for 4 months, and made trips back to the US for 2-3 months every 2-3 years. I've traveled through quite a lot of Southeast Asia and as a result I have a desperate desire to travel the world.
I also spent two months during the summer if 2016 backpacking solo through Europe and lived in Tampere, Finland for nearly a year.
I love people, cultures, and languages. I find religions fascinating. I've always enjoyed reading the mythology and fairy tales of different countries. Road trips through new places make me happy. I also love trains. Basically, anything that lets you see the places you travel through are my favourite ways to travel. Half the fun is getting to where you want to go and the memories you make along the way.
I live in Greenwood in a 2 bedroom apartment with my roommate, who is a queer cis woman. We also have 4 very friendly cats, so this is not an ideal place for people with pet allergies. There are several restaurants, grocery stores, and bus stops within a 10-15 block radius of the apartment. The E-line bus which goes to the heart of downtown Seattle is about 8 blocks from my apartment and leaves every 15 minutes. It's about 20 minutes to to 3rd Ave and Pike St from said stop. I also live a block away from the 5 bus which goes between Shoreline and downtown Seattle and am less than 10 blocks from the 45 bus which goes between Greenlake and Loyal Heights.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I think one of the most fun and valuable things about traveling is all the people you meet along the way. Couchsurfing offers people a unique way to connect, make friends, get an insider's perspective on the place you're visiting, and gives you a place to stay. Pretty amazing combination if you ask me! =)
Interests
Among many other things, I love reading, drawing, cosplaying, yoga, star-gazing, watching movies and tv, playing video and board games, hiking, swimming, camping, traveling, road trips, and going out with friends.

Music, Movies, and Books
Hah, don't even get me started. I could go on for days. But if it's fantasy, sci-fi, thriller, horror, or historical fiction, there's a good chance I'll like it. As for music, I like artists of most genres, from classical to heavy metal.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Worked as a medical translator in Aceh, Indonesia for a team of doctors from the Philippines shortly after the tsunami in 2004, watched a sea turtle lay its eggs, free-climbed up waterfalls in Hawai'i, helped deliver a baby, decided to move overseas solo twice.
Teach, Learn, Share
Between work and school, I tend to be away from home more than I'd prefer, but I'm happy to pick up guests, show them around the city, give them advice when I can't show them around, cook them a few meals, and have good conversation over wine/beer/cider.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share stories, experiences, recipies, cooking, help with English or Indonesian, as well as bring small gifts from my city. I also bring Cards Against Humanity, Exploding Kittens, and Red Flags (card games) with me wherever I go, so I'm happy to teach you or play those with you!
