About Me

I have learnt more about life and the world with every new country on which I've starred on Google Maps. My tally is up to 22 countries now, but I care less about that number than I do about the amazing people I've had the pleasure of interacting with and befriending along the way. Between hitchhiking, Couchsurfing, and simply talking to strangers (just friends I haven't met yet!), I have smiled my way across this planet. I have no intention of stopping!

Now, coming up in May 2019, I get the opportunity to bring my little sister along with me for the ride! For the first time, I am actually departing the USA with someone I know beside me on the plane. And I hope to be able to share the joys of experiencing new cultures and adventures with this 19-year-old girl I am so lucky to call my best friend.

Emily and I will be travelling through France, meeting friends I met in other parts of the world as well as what I hope will be a slew of new ones, to treasure in my heart for life! We will also be stopping in New York on the way back home.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've been using the Couchsurfing platform for almost 3 years. The people I have met through this incredible website are the reason why travelling has become such an obsession for me.

Meeting the people living in the destinations to which I travel is what travel is all about, for me. Meeting fellow backpackers (stuffed like sardines into small dorm rooms in hostels) is delightful, of course, but this doesn't give me much insight into which routines a local finds in his or her everyday life.

Where do you eat? Where do you get coffee? Where is your favourite walking park? Your favourite leisure activity? I want to know, and even better, I want to go with YOU!

Interests

Hitchhiking is hands-down my favourite way to get from one location to the next.
I first tried it in California, and have since hitched my way across the Balkans (Europe) and some of Eastern Europe, and all over Australia, mostly with truck drivers for long distances! Then, halfway through Thailand, which was crazy, because no one who picked me up had any idea what I was doing and were often very confused! Malaysia and Myanmar were the same :) I want to have this experience in as many countries as possible, any tips or tricks and STORIES are always so welcome!

Yoga is incredibly important to me. I try to practise every day. It is a practise, and mine is always growing, always evolving, never perfect, but always exactly what I need it to be. I am a better person with yoga.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music:
I love all the music. (Unless it comes on the radio too often...But even so, I might find myself singing along! I am not so picky that I can't appreciate some T-Swift sometimes)

(alt-J, Queen, Glass Animals, Polo & Pan, Pink Floyd, Desmond Cheese, Lana Del Rey, Bonobo, Kendrick Lamar, Grateful Dead OneRepublic, Baths, Four Tet, Angus + Julia Stone, London Grammar, The Who, Boston, Cake, Tchaikovsky) I like a wide variety of beautiful music. Always love to hear more.

Movies. So. Many. Movies:

Lord of the Rings. Oh Brother, Where Art Thou? Monty Python + The Holy Grail. Princess Bride. Shawshank Redemption. Les Miserables. Shutter Island. Anything by Quentin Tarantino, Wes Anderson, Stanley Kubrick, Woody Allen, Tim Burton, Martin Scorsese, or Steven Spielburg, probably ingenious, I'll probably love it. I am watching much less telly these days though.

Documentaries and food shows on Netflix!! Fab.

Books!
Neil Gaiman,
Tom Robbins,
John Steinbeck,
J R R Tolkein,
C S Lewis,
Stieg Larsson,
And SO many MORE.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Loved myself.

Travelling is an extension of that. Cooking, yoga, loving the humans around me.
It is not easy, I often struggle to maintain this love, but when I do, truly, love myself, I am the best version of me. And that is what I love to put out into the world.

Such a simple thing, yet so revolutionary, so extraordinary, so amazing.

10/10 would recommend.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am passionate about massage, and I would love to give you one if you want! Especially a foot massage. And especially if you've never had one! Let me convert you! Give those feet a break! Appreciate them for what they do carrying you around all the damn time!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'd love to cook a meal with you.
Share a walk.
Practise 30 minutes of yoga in your lounge room.
