ABOUT ME
I'm a fun-loving kind of person. I've spent the last six years of my life studying and limiting myself from having fun. Now life begins again! :)
I enjoy all walks of life. I like sports and the outdoors, languages, cultures, music of all sorts, learning, adventures...
PHILOSOPHY
Go for it!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I just joined CS. I currently would have trouble hosting a place, but hopefully within a year or so I'll be in a better position to do so.
I'm very open to things, so I hope to take full advantage of having unique opportunities into a host's culture.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
So far, my family's fears that I'm nuts to do this are unfounded. Hoping it stays this way. I've only been hosted by the best so far! :)

Music, Movies, and Books
I don't like movies as a go-to thing to do. But some of my favorite movies have been Gladiator, What Dreams May Come, Memoirs of a Geisha, Apollo 13, Harry Potter, and, of course, most romantic comedies. My idea of a good movie is changing a bit, though.
Music...pretty much everything and anything. Particular top favorites would be various Indian songs, female lead vocals with metal (lacuna coil, nightwish, etc), mainstream pop, and Spanish music (more as a practice, but I really enjoy Don Omar and Aventura).
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In high school, I pole vaulted for track. What was so amazing about it, was experiencing the feeling of flying. Just a couple seconds, a taste leaving you wanting more. I loved the way it was all dependent on me...no motors, just pure effort. It is the only sport I had to be told to go home.
Another beautiful experience happened in China. My classmates wanted to go out in an old coal-mining city, Datong. We had already taken a walk around outside our hotel, only to find questionable stores open. We were also told there might not be any clubs open because the people were still in mourning over the earthquake. But we went out anyways. We took a cab to a plaza, and exiting the cab....
There was club music playing out in the open plaza, and hundreds of people out there in the plaza. Many of them playing with large kick balls, or colorful hacky sac birdies (colored fake feathers coming from some metal disks kicked around like a hacky sac is in the U.S.). And overhead, they had the red Chinese flying lanterns....so high in the sky.
In most ways, China was not the historic place I imagined from pictures and movies, but that night it came closer to the romantic image I had in my head, like something out of the stories. Sitting there, drinking with my classmates and some newlyfound Chinese friends, it was one of those moments you wish to last longer than reality.

Teach, Learn, Share
Teach...I can practice Spanish with people, or English as that's my native tongue. I used to play piano, so I can share the basics of that. I have a degree in architecture that may or may not have taught me things I can pass down. And it's always interesting to learn about others impressions and thoughts on matters...so I offer those as well.
Learning... I'd love to learn to cook ethnic dishes, to learn more about Islam, to skateboard, to hang glide, and to see into the worlds around my own.
