About Me

CURRENT MISSION

my mission is to be content

ABOUT ME

I'm currently living and studying film & tv production in York (UK) and am absolutely loving living here. i spent last year living in valencia, spain - where i met some of my best friends and discovered couchsurfing. I think the most important things to me are my friends - whom i adore, although i love meeting new people and experiencing new cultures and attitudes. I'm pretty easy going, i'm happy in pretty much any environment, and enjoy a varied range of activities, from climbing to antique hunting - i'll try anything once :) i'm currently embarking on my exchange semester and will be experiencing canada's winter - a pretty far removed experience from the spanish summer, but variety is undoubtedly the spice of life :D

PHILOSOPHY

it´s a bit of a cliché but - treat others how you´d like to be treated, accept that everyone is unique, all different with their own faults and insecurities and do not judge them for it. try and live according to your own ethics and ideals, but always willing to consider others points of view and ideas. the past is gone and there seems no logical reason to let it affect or shape your future. be as happy or content as you can.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

i have been to a couple of couch surfing events and have had a great time meeting new people from all over the world. i have had people that i've met travelling to stay - arranged between ourselves - and now want to start participating in couchsurfing properly.

Interests

i enjoy most things - i like to be outdoors amongst other people, and doing stuff, but also enjoy watching films, or just spending time with my friends indoors on rainy nights. i enjoy cycling, climbing, walking, exploring new and interesting places, dancing, i am currently learning salsa, but enjoy all types of dancing. going out with my friends on daytrips or just to clubs or pubs. laying in the sun, not really doing a lot - normally recovering from hangovers :D and of course eating in or out. I am a pretty fabulous cook (even if i do say so myself) and i like to try authentic food from the regions i'm in, or just enjoy good food with friends. i love to travel and see new things. since meeting people from all over europe in spain i have travelled to see them and vice versa, i would just like to extend this to the rest of the world now :D...i'd love to get into iceskating and also kayaking, everytime i've done either i've thoroughly enjoyed them and not been too bad for a beginner.

Music, Movies, and Books

i love films - but too many to name them all - but here´s a few....stand by me, rabbit proof fence, once we were warriors, the city of god, natural born killers, momé, hotel rwanda, twelve monkeys, life of bryan, bugsy malone, fight club, resevoir dogs, american beauty, milk, lucky number slevin.
ok books - the kite runner, body of glass, the vampire lestat, a woman on the edge of time, papillon.
music - pj harvey, the cat empire, buena vista social club, amy winehouse, calecsico, portishead, jake la botz, gentleman's dub club, hijack oscar. my musical tastes are pretty ecclectic, and again wouldn't rule anything out.
well theres much more of all of course but i couldn´t fit them all in.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

i don´t know about amazing - i suppose, i cycled the breadth of spain and back - 2000 kilometres - not all at once, over a few weeks. from the north coast to the west coast, then back (to barcelona) then southerly to valencia. then i kinda got stuck, the plan had been to carry on but i really liked it there and ended up staying for a further 8 months.
