About Me
CURRENT MISSION
to live London
ABOUT ME
I have just finished my studies in Manchester and just started working at Charing Cross Hospital. I spent the summer living in the Netherlands, my adopted home. Whilst I was sad to leave there I am excited to move to London and explore this great city. I love to travel solo and especially enjoy trekking and mountain climbing.
I am very accident prone when I travel and usually end up in strange and unusual situations but it means I meet lots of different people. I am always amazed how many people will always offer to help you when you are in trouble.
PHILOSOPHY
If the 'normal' course of life is not for you... don't take it. Just because people don't normally do things a certain way - it doesn't mean that you can't. If you really want something, don't stop until you are there.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
When I lived in the Netherlands I hosted 11 people!!!! It was chaos but great fun. Although I already knew the 11, couch surfing is a great way to meet people of different nationalities. I love the fact that you can go to a new city and never be lonely (its the free-hugs plus version). I love to hear people's stories. Hopefully I will be able to bring something to the CS community too.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I began as Couch Surfer in Oruro, Bolivia for Carnaval! It was a brilliant experience and I have been hosting since then.
Interests
I love..... rock-climbing, being in the mountains, travelling, trying new things, whole afternoons chatting in cafes, swimming in the sea, salsa dancing (not that I am any good at it), cats, strong-willed women, classical music at De Doelen, Eggs Benedict, Mammut, ultimate frisbee, debates, Chocolate (with a capital C), the Yorkshire Dales, stubborn patients that tell the consultants off, walking boots, motorbikes, the word 'gezellig', netball, web-design, men that play the guitar, my Sweedish army camping stove and learning languages.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have climbed 5,000 and 6,000 m peaks, gone into the crater of an active lava lake (Erta Ale), spent a night in an Ethiopian prison, swum with pink dolphins in an Amazon tributary, slept in the Himalayas under a million stars, been in a Honduran hospital with a suspected broken neck and fallen in love with the Dutchman who saved me!
Teach, Learn, Share
I learn a huge amount of things from people close to me. I am always interested to hear new perspectives especially passionate or controversial ones - just to get me thinking. Even people who you are only able to spend a limited amount of time with can leave a lasting impression.
