Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When I travel, I don't just want to see stuff, I want to meet people and do things I probably wouldn't do just as a tourist. There are so many interesting people all over the globe, it'd be a shame not to hang out just because we're not from the same place. I study German and Russian, and am not averse to broadening my knowledge and picking up some new vocab in any other language, either.

Plus locals (hopefully) know where the cheapest alcohol is, amirite?

Interests

I like reading and creative writing, and I can get into long pretentious conversations about literature if so desired. I'm quite political, but in a good way (I'm nice and liberal and like equality) so I'm sure we'll all get along. If all else fails, I like to cook and I like to eat, so let's bond over food.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like a pretty eclectic mixture of music - I think just about any genre listed under 'alternative' (which is most things) probably falls under my radar. I listen to a lil this, a lil that, a lil classic goth/grunge/riot grrrl/shoegaze/electroswing/surf/cabaret/country/I don't even know what. I'd love to just go to some random gig of an unknown band, I'm sure I can find common ground with most people.

I guess my taste in books and movies is correspondingly moody/feminist/jazz age, and Russian literature is great too. A little dystopia/speculative fiction is always appreciated.
