About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Live.

ABOUT ME

I live in a converted stone stable in Ashburton, a little stannary town on the edge of Dartmoor, a national park. I teach horticulture at a nearby college.

PHILOSOPHY

Live in the moment and relish life. I love being outdoors and growing plants but my philosophy is not 'deep green' and I'm not involved in Transition Towns.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I go to local CS events sometimes and go on cycle trips staying with CS hosts

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Had an fun time cycling and surfing in france in April and some good walks and pub sessions with people that have visited. Have hosted quite a few CSers now, from all over. Did a bit of couchsurfing this year in Morocco and France.

Interests

I am into cycling and generally being outdoors, living near some rocky wild coasts and the Dartmoor national park. I spend a lot of time gardening, with my job. I like going to gigs with friends, meeting new people watching films and occasionally write and perform poetry.

Music, Movies, and Books

Gigs and listen to a lot of music/radio at home - electronica, folk fusion, dub reggae, Indie etc - I read quite a lot and have a great arts cinema nearby

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Nature in all its forms.

Teach, Learn, Share

A lot of people come to the area because of Transition Town Totnes and its reputation as a centre of all thats green. You may be disappointed! It is a pretty little market town with great organic food shops but you will not see much else unless you've arranged to visit projects/organisations far in advance of your visit. Your best best is to either come on a course/event or to volunteer (check out www.schumachercollege.org.uk, www.landmatters.org.uk, www.treesforhealth.org, totnes.transitionnetwork.org, www.bowdenhouse.co.uk, www.sharphamtrust.org,www.beenleighmeadowsfarm.org.uk) Or volunteer through wwoof (worldwide workers on organic farms), a great way to learn land-based skills and meet like-minded people www.wwoof.org.uk
