About Me

Hello! My name's Bethany, and I'm from California. I grew up in the "Silicon Valley" but now live in a small gold-rush era town in the Sierra Nevada mountains. I love all things sustainability and am very passionate about the environment. I'm very interested in urban planning and design, and love walking around cities or small towns and noticing the unique qualities of places.

I'm a bit of a social introvert, so I love having deep discussions with folks. I also love just having a good time out on the town, chatting over a beer or glass of wine, or going on an adventure!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Right now I'm interested in soaking up as much info and experiences as I travel around Europe for the first time! I think there's so much to learn from other cultures and places. I'm traveling solo right now, and would love to get to know locals or other travelers in the area.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Jazz, Acoustic, Hip Hop, Classical, anything really if it's good! (But not really into formulaic pop...)
Movies: I'm a sucker for a good classic.. like Casablanca or Hitchcock movies (North by Northwest, Vertigo, etc)
Books: Just finished some sustainability non-fiction like Happy City & Cities for People by Jan Gehl. Also, just found out about Thich Nhat Hanh and I love the little book "Being Peace"
Other: love listening to NPR (National Public Radio in America)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Took a cold plunge in the Yuba River (where I live) on New Year's Day..... it's was literally freezing. And so exhilarating!

Teach, Learn, Share
