About Me
Sometimes I think that I should have been born in a period in history where long skirts and etiquette ruled. Then I remember that I quite like modern medicine, electricity, and not having to wear a corset every day. Not to mention the fact that modern views of history often both romanticise facts and seem to ignore the poorer majorities. Oh well, we all have our dreams!
So, now that we have established that I do in all actuality live in the modern era... Who am I?
My name is Bethany, but I'm usually known as Havanah, from my middle name. I'm from England but I have lived in The Netherlands for the past three years as I've been studying for my bachelor's degree (liberal arts and sciences, focusing on literature and art history). Now that's finished I plan on spending June being a tourist in the country I've been living in before moving back to England in July.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Although I'm not able to host people right now, I am looking to meet up with travelers and locals and explore Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and the world.
Interests
My hobbies tend to centre around the arts in general. I love quite an eclectic mixture of music from rock to folk, metal to opera and so on and so forth. I enjoy going to see live shows as well as fiddling about with music a bit myself.
Other than that, I'm really into anything creative... painting, crafting, sewing, taking photos, anything to do with theatre. You get the idea really! Similarly, I love viewing artworks.
When traveling, I tend to be most interested in cultural and historical aspects of a city. I'm not so much a 'night life' kind of person!

Music, Movies, and Books
I listen to a variety of music such as:
Apocalyptica, Within Temptation, Coppelius
Lord of the Lost, Deathstars, Oomph!
Reckless Love, The Fairchilds, Crashdiet
Faun, Rastaban, Cesair,
Rapalje, Heather Dale, Celtic Woman,
Diana Damrau, David Garrett, Anuna
I've found that, since starting university, my reading time has reduced dramatically. When I get a chance, I love reading and have a preference for fantasy novels, fairytales and mythology, and factual and fictional books relating to history and religion.
