Music, Movies, and Books

books: almost anything by Haruki Murakami (especially Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World), Catch-22 by Joseph Heller, The Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov, Midnight's Children by Salman Rushdie, The History of Love by Nicole Krauss, Reading Lolita in Tehran by Azar Nafisi, No One Belongs Here More than You by Miranda July, anything by Alexandre Dumas, the Harry Potter books, and many others

music: Run on Sentence, Beirut, Do Make Say Think, Brown Bird, Balkan music, marching band music, and most anything at a small local show

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Spending time at the temple my first year at Burning Man was among the most amazing, connected experiences of my life. (Believe it or not, it's where I met my husband!)

Also in the running: Laying at the edge of the Cliffs of Moher, rooting for the seagulls struggling against the wind, at sunset, with my best friend.

Hitching, hiking, and snowshoeing through the Italian Alps in search of a giant knitted bunny (only to find it mostly covered in snow).

Spontaneously taking Greyhound across the U.S., and eating out of gas stations for three sleep-deprived, showerless days.

Hitchhiking up Route 1 in record time. Talking for hours with a trucker who had dodged the draft in Vietnam. Taking a casino shuttle bus with a bunch of old people, the road wedged between mountains and the ocean. Meeting up with my love in Oregon and visiting Bagby Hot Springs together.

My four-day wedding festival in 2013, feeling so immensely loved and supported by our community!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can help you arrange, re-arrange, decorate, or design any space! I love to cook with/for people. I'd also be psyched to teach you some aerial acrobatics or hula hooping skills.

I want to practice my Spanish and learn new ways to cook!
