About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I just make it up as I go along.....

ABOUT ME

Native of the northwest. I like being in water, including rain. I like being outside in general, going new places without plans, walking in cities and in the woods. I've been to Nepal and all over eastern Africa, eventually want to go back to those places. Spent 2 years living in rural Armenia and teaching english and coordinating science education trainings for teachers. I'm 1/2 way through a Master's degree now and keeping busy with research. I like cooking and making art (painting mostly) when the inspiration is there.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

For now, occasional traveling. This summer (2011) I'm in my homeland on the west (best) coast. Once I am back to Mass. in the fall I have ample space for hosting folks.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books have played a central role in my life at sea and getting through Armenian winters: Russian literature (Tolstoy, Dostoevsky, Bulgakov) is what I'm usually reading. Also, Kundera, Murakami, natural history non-fiction, Hemmingway, the beats, Moby Dick, books about antarctica

I like Fellini and Film Noir and surreal movies. Science of Sleep is a favorite.

Music: Its mostly all good. Lately a lot of clasical armenian, lo-fi pacific northwesterner weirdness, and classic rock

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Seen: A pod of killer whales eating turbot fish off the line in a boat on the Bering Sea. Then watching the moon bobbing in the sky through a pothole at night.

Teach, Learn, Share

I worked in a bakery: pies, breads, scones and bagels are what I'm best at. I like cooking with other people.
