About Me
CURRENT MISSION
It feels silly and lonely to have a 2 bedroom apartment to myself in Hong Kong. My mission is to share what I have with others and to meet people!
ABOUT ME
FYI: I am not going to be able to host anyone until February 2012 because I am going home for Christmas and then having a guest through January. After that, I would be happy to host someone!
Here I am in Hong Kong! I was offered a job for the school year September 2011-June 2012 and couldn't resist the adventure (or the pay). I work for a family in their home, homeschooling their 4 boys. It's a fun job. I'm busy with work but haven't had much luck meeting people so the weekends can be a bit long and lonely. I am hoping that couchsurfer.org will be a fun way to be social and give me something to do!
I've always enjoyed hosting things, or people, so I think this will be a good fit for me.
I am 30 years old and have been teaching children with autism for the past 7 years in (and near) Seattle, Washington. I left my boyfriend in Olympia, Washington for this year, and being long-distance has been hard. However, I am truly enjoying Hong Kong and all it has to offer and am hoping to do some solo traveling when my contract is up this summer!
Also, I have a identical twin sister. (that's just a fun fact)
PHILOSOPHY
Right now my philosophy is something along the lines of, eventually (in the next few years) I'd like to settle down, buy a house, have kids, etc... so I should travel and see the world now while I'm not tied down! So here I am, doing that (alone). I also always wanted to try living alone and being in Hong Kong has presented that opportunity for the first time.
Being in Hong Kong so far has made my hyper-aware of time. I think about each day. The days are anything but a blur. I am conscious of everyday and every thing I do. Part of me wants the year to fly by so I can get home to my boyfriend and friends. But I have also been exploring this city and enjoying my time here. It's been a good exercise in getting out of my comfort zone.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Going alone to Hong Kong to live and work for a year is by far the bravest thing I've done.
Teach, Learn, Share
I know a lot about teaching children with autism. I am Board Certified in Behavior Analysis, so I know a lot about shaping and reinforcing behaviors. I've worked with many children with severe behavioral challenges.
