About Me
hi there,
my name is betti and I am from austria. I am a pretty well- organized chaotic I would say. the things I do I do with passion and devotion, but always- or at least until now- only for a few months before reaching out for something new. this time I just quitted my job as a cook on a mountain restaurant which I genuinely loved and have done for a year to move to vienna (again) and do orientalistic studies in university.
when travelling I try talking to many different kinds of people because as I see it you miss a lot by avoiding those who seem incompatible with your own personality. (which happens way too often)
also I hold the belief that it enriches yourself to see how we are all so different, yet the same and grow more tolerant by this insight
all in all I would say I am a companionable, curious person, who knows how to keep a room clean (just so this for potential roommates important fact is mentioned ;) )
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I prefer couchsurfing over hostels and b&b´s because it is the easiest way to get to know the place I am visiting (and also a lot funnier :D )
when coming to a new city I find important to feel the spirit of the place and people who live there and find out what they appreciate about their hometown and where and with what and whom they spend their time with. if not staying with locals I find myself way too often in touristic places which is a real pity!
Interests
which couchsurfing wouldn´t let me mention above in the category "languages" is that I am courious about learning to swear in many different languages. in my point of view this is a very individual and intimate part of a culture which definately is neglected!
to invalidate the impression of a rude and unfriendly me I have to say that I for sure hardly ever say anything bad to others. swearing for me is mostly used against things or in situations to express stress and anger, sometimes happiness as well :D

Music, Movies, and Books
the fall by tarsem singh is the only movie I always recommend others because it is simply perfect! accompanied by beethoven´s music and the marvellous landscape shots and punchy and endearing characters is a story so melodic and sophisticated it gives me goosebumps still anytime I watch it (btw we are celebrating our 100th anniversary soon ;) )
some other movies I consider to be great: donnie darko, jailhouse rock, talented mr ripley, from dusk till dawn (the roadmovie-part, I prefer to deny the vampires^^)
books such as tristan and isolde, 1984, andorra, steppenwolf- depends on my concentration level at the time I am starting to read. some great books and I just had a horrible start so I never got to finish them ;)
my taste in music I find hard to describe because there are so many great artists in every single genre; from pink floyd, emerson lake and palmer over the white stripes, joy division, pearl jam as well as gerard and sade and tracy chapman and last but definitley not least beethoven, chopin and tschaikowsky ( <3 ) you can find me listening to anything! I can impossibly find myself living without music!
